What is a cold call? A call you make to sell your product.

Today, everyone receives cold calls from unknown numbers, and I know it's frustrating for us all. People generally don't answer such calls, pretend to be busy, or, in the worst case, make fun. Still, cold calls are the best and most efficient way to convert leads into customers. So, let's understand how we can sell over a call.

How do you convert potential customers into best friends in 30 seconds?

Here-

  • Be enthusiastic. In case they aren’t ready to be converted, they will still be willing to listen to you.
  • People appreciate honesty. So, it’s completely fine to inform them that it’s a cold call but make sure you let them know you won’t take much of their time. The world is moving at light speed and people are super cautious about their time schedules. Thus, make sure that their time is being invested and not wasted. 
  • Introduce yourself and your brand with utter clarity. They should know who they are speaking to. 
  • Be helpful. How? Tell them they are a beautiful cup of tea (their brand) with a tiny crack at the bottom (the problem). You, as a helping hand, want to cover the crack with the best clay you have (your brand). This way, you want to save the tea in the cup (their brand image). 
  • If they do not answer or decline- share your proposal with them via an email or a message.
  • If they say they are too busy to talk to you- ask them, when can you call them next, and subtly convey what the call was about. Note the given time and give a callback. 
  • In case they say they are not interested in the service you provide- make them aware of the general need for your product in the current global situation (e.g., fast-paced life, digitalization, etc.). Also, if you’ve worked with bigger brands, name them. If you’ve worked with smaller brands, show the success graph demonstrating the growth they achieved using your product.
  • Not convinced yet? Here pops up your surprising offer! Promise slightly more than what you had thought of. If you are a content creator, create a free reel for them. After analysis, they can decide to collaborate with you. 
  • If at all they hate your offer or do not feel a need for it- show gratitude and stay in touch for future requirements. 

Cold calls can open doors to ample opportunities. You are making people aware of your brand’s existence. It’s no different than approaching your crush for the first time. You study her well and initiate with confidence and genuine intention. There are chances of you being in a long-term relationship with her and if the bond is nurtured well, you might end up getting married to her. 

There are only cold calls and no cold conversations if you put ahead a warm pitch.
